This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use The Audition Technique App and related websites, courses, premium communities, events, and support channels (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1) Scope

This Policy applies to information we collect:

  • Through the App and any websites that link to this Policy.
  • In email, chat, support, surveys, and community features.
  • From purchases, subscriptions, and course access made via our App, website, or app-store billing.

It does not apply to third-party sites or services we link to. Their privacy practices are their own.

2) Information We Collect

a) Information you provide

  • Account & profile: name, email, password, photo/avatar, biography, location (optional), links.
  • Purchases & subscriptions: items purchased, billing address (where applicable), payment method details handled by our payment processors (we do not store full card numbers).
  • Community & user content: posts, comments, messages, reactions, uploaded media, submitted assignments/self-tapes, and any metadata you include.
  • Support & surveys: inquiries, feedback, ratings, and responses.
  • Marketing preferences: opt-ins/opt-outs for email, SMS, push.

b) Information collected automatically

  • Usage & device data: app version, device identifiers, operating system, time zone, language, referral source, pages/screens viewed, features used, in-app events, crash logs, performance diagnostics.
  • Approximate location: derived from IP address (city/region level) to set market, currency, or content availability.
  • Cookies & similar tech (on the web): pixels, local storage, and SDKs for authentication, analytics, fraud prevention, and personalization. See Section 9.

c) Information from third parties

  • Payment providers & app stores: transaction confirmations, subscription status, chargebacks, refunds.
  • Social sign-in / SSO (if enabled): basic profile info (e.g., name, email).
  • Marketing, analytics & anti-fraud partners: aggregated insights, campaign attribution, device signals.
  • Talent/education partners: if you enroll through a partner program, limited enrollment data to provision access.

3) How We Use Your Information (Purposes)

We use personal information to:

  • Provide & improve the Services: authenticate you; deliver courses; host communities; remember settings; fix bugs; analyze usage; develop new features.
  • Process purchases & subscriptions: verify eligibility; deliver receipts; manage access; handle refunds consistent with our Terms.
  • Community features & safety: display your name/avatar and content to other members; moderate content; enforce guidelines; prevent spam/abuse.
  • Personalize content & recommendations: suggest courses, threads, events, and resources.
  • Communicate with you: account notices, transactional messages, updates, service changes, and—with your consent—marketing communications.
  • Security & fraud prevention: detect, investigate, and prevent security incidents, illegal activities, or Terms violations.
  • Legal & compliance: keep records, respond to lawful requests, and comply with applicable laws.

AI/ML: We may use analytics and machine-assisted features to personalize your experience or moderate content. We do not use your personal information to train generalized AI models unrelated to providing our Services.

4) Legal Bases (EEA/UK only)

Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we process your data on these bases:

  • Contract (to deliver the Services you request)
  • Legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Services, prevent fraud, analyze usage, and personalize—balanced against your rights)
  • Consent (for certain marketing, cookies, and optional features)
  • Legal obligation (recordkeeping, tax, and compliance)

You may withdraw consent at any time (Section 11).

5) Sharing & Disclosure

We share personal information only as described below:

  • Service providers (processors): hosting (cloud), customer support, email/SMS delivery, analytics, crash reporting, content moderation tools, payment processing, and identity verification. They may only use data per our instructions and must protect it.
  • Community visibility: your profile name/avatar and community content can be visible to other members according to your settings and the forum or group’s visibility rules. Direct messages are visible to participants and to us as needed for trust & safety.
  • App stores & payment partners: to provision/verify purchases and manage subscriptions.
  • Business transfers: in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, data may transfer as part of the transaction.
  • Legal & safety: to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect rights, property, or safety.
  • With your consent: we may share or display data in ways you direct (e.g., showcasing testimonials or linking external profiles).

We do not sell personal information for money. Where laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA) treat certain ad/analytics sharing as a “sale” or “sharing,” you may opt out (Section 11).

6) Children’s Privacy

The Services are not intended for children under 16 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided data to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

7) Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, including to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. We may anonymize or aggregate data so it is no longer associated with you, and we may use that information indefinitely.

8) Security

We implement administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information (e.g., encryption in transit, access controls, monitoring). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; you are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your credentials and notifying us of suspected compromise.

9) Cookies, SDKs & Similar Technologies

We (and our partners) use cookies, mobile SDKs, pixels, and local storage to:

  • Keep you signed in, remember preferences, and deliver the Service.
  • Measure traffic and performance.
  • Prevent fraud and abuse.
  • Personalize content and (where permitted) marketing.

You can manage cookies in your browser and manage app permissions in your device settings. Some features may not function without certain cookies/SDKs.

Do Not Track: We currently do not respond to DNT signals.

10) International Transfers

We are based in Australia and may process personal information in Australia and other countries (including the United States, the EU/UK, and elsewhere) where our service providers operate. When we transfer data internationally, we use lawful transfer mechanisms (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses, UK Addendum/IDTA, or equivalent safeguards) and implement appropriate protections.

11) Your Rights & Choices

Your rights depend on your jurisdiction. Subject to limits under law, you may have the right to:

  • Access & Portability: request a copy of your personal information.
  • Correction: request we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Deletion: request we delete personal information (we may retain where required by law or for legitimate interests such as fraud prevention and recordkeeping).
  • Restriction/Objection (EEA/UK): restrict or object to certain processing based on our legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent (e.g., some marketing), you may withdraw at any time.
  • Marketing choices: opt out of marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link, adjusting in-app settings, or contacting us. For push/SMS, change device and in-app settings or reply STOP where applicable.
  • Ad/analytics “sale”/“sharing” opt-out (US state laws): where applicable, you can opt out of cross-context behavioural advertising. Contact us or use any in-app/web controls we provide.

Exercising your rights: Email privacy@theauditiontechnique.com with your request. We may verify your identity and respond within the timeframe required by law. You may designate an authorized agent where allowed.

Australia (APPs): You may request access and correction under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If you are dissatisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the OAIC (www.oaic.gov.au).
EEA/UK: You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
California/US states: Additional rights may apply under CCPA/CPRA, CPA, VCDPA, CTDPA, UCPA, etc.

12) Community Expectations & User Content

Community areas are designed for professional learning and networking. Content you post may be visible to other members. Do not share sensitive or private information you do not wish to make public. We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach our Terms, community guidelines, or the law. We may review or access content for moderation, safety, or support.

13) Third-Party Links & Social Features

The Services may include links to third-party websites, plugins, or integrations (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo, Stripe, Apple/Google in-app purchase, Meta logins). Their data practices are governed by their own policies. Please review those before interacting.

14) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date and, where required, notify you through the App, email, or other reasonable means. Your continued use of the Services after an update signifies acceptance of the revised Policy.
