Networking for actors in the digital age
🌱 Every actor starts somewhere.
Our Beginner Courses are designed for people who are just taking their first steps into acting — or even those who haven’t started yet but feel the pull to explore it.
If you’re brand new to the industry, this is the perfect place to begin. You’ll:
- Build confidence in yourself and your skills
- Learn the foundations without feeling overwhelmed
- Discover how to start your journey on the right track
Because even the greatest actors were beginners once. The difference is — they chose the right place to start.
Stop lurking. Start connecting. Turn scrolling into opportunities.
🎭 Casting Directors are on social media. Which means — like it or not — you need to be there too. Not just on Instagram, but across the platforms where connections are made and opportunities are born.
And yes, we’ve all been there:
- DM’ing a Casting Director who’s never met you 🙈
- Or worse… accidentally liking their photo from 2014 😳
But here’s the truth: in today’s industry, digital networking isn’t optional — it’s essential.
This course shows you how to:
- Build an authentic online presence that decision-makers notice (without being cringey)
- Connect with Casting Directors, agents, and producers in ways that feel natural and professional
- Speak the right language online without sounding like a walking résumé
- Turn social platforms into genuine career opportunities (instead of time-wasting scroll holes)
👉 This isn’t about schmoozing or spamming your showreel to anyone with “Casting” in their bio. It’s about creating real connections — and yes, learning to enjoy it.
So……sick of watching other actors land opportunities because of their social presence?
✨ It’s your turn.

Networking for actors in the digital age
Is This You?
❌ Not using social media to boost your acting career
❌ Unsure how to make your digital presence work in your favour
❌ Watching other actors land jobs through socials while you’re stuck on the sidelines
👉 If you’re nodding along, then this course is for you.
✨ Learn how to turn your online presence into opportunities.
Networking has always been key to getting your acting career off the ground. But today, the real question is: how do you use digital platforms to supercharge your networking?
This course shows you how to craft the kind of online presence and messages that Casting Directors and agents actually read — and remember.
Here’s the blunt truth: CASTING DIRECTORS ARE ON SOCIAL MEDIA. They’re scrolling daily, keeping an eye out for the next actor who makes them stop.
If you want to be one of those actors, you need to know what you’re doing.
This course is for actors who:
- 📱 Aren’t using social media effectively to elevate their career
- 🤔 Are trying to figure out how their digital presence can actually work for them
- 🏃♂️ Feel like they’re falling behind while other actors seem to book opportunities straight from their socials
👉 If that sounds like you, this course will flip the script and show you how to turn your online presence into your career’s secret weapon.
✨ Stop scrolling. Start being seen.
In a world of streaming platforms, hashtags, and 10-second attention spans, your most important product is… you. No pressure! 😅
But seriously—how do you pitch yourself without sounding like a contestant on The Bachelor?
This lesson breaks down the actor’s elevator pitch (yes, you need one), how to identify your “buyer” (aka the power brokers), and how to sell your story with charm and authenticity—not desperation.
You wouldn’t walk into a blind date and say “Hi, I’m single.” So why lead with “Hi, I’m an actor”?
Good research makes for great conversation—and makes you feel more confident.
Here, you’ll learn how to investigate without being invasive and connect with people in a way that makes them curious to know more, not block your email. Trust us, there’s a method—and it works.
How to Approach Casting Directors (Without Weirding Them Out)
Casting Directors are human (yes, even the ones with intimidating Instagram feeds).
In this lesson, you’ll discover how to strike the perfect balance between professional and personal—without over-sharing, over-selling, or over-doing it. The goal? Leave a genuine impression that makes them say, “I like this actor,” not “Oh no, it’s that actor.”
The Other Audience You're Missing
You’ve been told to make strong choices in auditions—but what if you had a secret audience to practice on first?
This lesson offers a clever twist: using your daily interactions (yes, even at your day job or coffee run) to rehearse and refine the way you communicate.
No pressure, no rejection—just real-world reps for your networking muscles.
What (and What Not) to Email a Casting Director or Agent
Should you attach a headshot? Should you keep it short? Should you use emojis?!
(Quick answer: probably not that last one.)
Digital communication is an art form. One wrong line and you’re ghosted. One right note and you’re on the radar. This lesson helps you strike that perfect tone—professional, polished, and human.
Be a Consummate Communicator (Even at Awkward Industry Events)
What do you say when you run into a Casting Director at a party or in line at the cinema?
Spoiler alert: It’s not “Hi, I’m available for callbacks.”
We’ll teach you how to build familiarity over time, the way real relationships are made. Because networking is not a one-time thing—it’s a practice, a rhythm, and most of all, a conversation.
Putting It All Together (The Relationship Glue)
Here comes the final flourish: putting your actor toolkit + your connection skills into something that feels real, lasting, and—you guessed it—sustainable.
You can’t fake chemistry, and you can’t force a relationship. But you can build one that’s meaningful and mutually respectful.
This lesson shows you how to turn contacts into connections, and connections into collaborators.
You’ll unlock 7 game-changing lessons from one of the most experienced Casting Directors in the business — Greg Apps.
Greg isn’t just a Casting Director; he’s a pioneer. From introducing self-taping to shaping how actors use demo reels, he’s always been ahead of the curve.
Now, from the Casting Director’s seat, he’ll show you why digital platforms and social media are no longer optional — they’re essential to an actor’s toolkit.
These 7 lessons will take you from:
- 😰 Feeling overwhelmed about what to post, when to post, and how to connect
to - 🚀 Knowing exactly how to present yourself online in a way that builds buzz, sparks connection, and gets Casting Directors curious about you.

I live far away from the major casting locations. Thanks to the skills I have learnt from TAT I have maintained a constant stream of guest roles in major productions. As Greg says, “It’s a digital world”. This is where I got the training and the skills to deliver quality self tests at short notice to the biggest casting houses in the country. This is where my career started.

Greg Apps is a precursor, an outside-the-box thinker who brings you to his side of the (self-tape) screen. You can’t help but feel like an athlete, activating and constantly training your acting muscles, getting stronger week after week, gaining confidence and taking ownership of your own brand and career.
